Javier BERASATEGI is a competition lawyer and economist with 15 years experience in EC and Spanish competition law. He has worked for Stanbrook & Hooper and McDermott, Will & Emery/Stanbrook in Brussels and chaired the Competition Tribunal of the Basque Country (Spain). He has advised different sporting organizations on EU & competition law and currently advises the Spanish Football League in a high profile competition case in the field of broadcasting rights. He teaches and lectures regularly on all aspects of competition law and economics.
Zsolt BORKAI is the President of the Hungarian Olympic Committee, mayor of the city of Győr, member of the Parliament, Olympic Champion Gymnast. Education: Juhász Gyula Teacher Training College (Physical Education), Janus Pannonius University (University degree in Physical Education Teacher), Budapest University of Technology (Field of study: Public Education Manager). Work experience: he was regular officer of the Hungarian People’s Army for 3 years, then competitor and gymnastics coach at the Öhring Sports Club in Germany, 1999-2006: director of the Béri Balogh Ádám Military High School in Győr. In 2006 he became Mayor of the city of Győr, last year he was reelected. Since April, 2010: Member of the Hungarian Parliament. Attila CZENE is the Minister of State for Sport, Olympic Champion Swimmer. University degrees: in1998 he graduated at the University of Physical Education, Budapest (Degree of swimming coach), In 2004: Arizona State University (degree of sociology). He lived in the United States of America for several years. After returning home, in 2006 he graduated at the Budapest Corvinus University (degree of sociology-economy). From 2005 to 2009 he was member of FINA Athletes’ Commission. In 2005 Attila Czene became member of Hungarian Olympic Committee, while in 2008: member of the Board of the Hungarian Swimming Federation. Nick Fitzpatrick is a partner at DLA Piper UK LLP and is a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales.
Ian FORRESTER Q.C., LL.D. He is a Partner of White & Case LLP in Brussels. He regularly lectures on European law and policy. He has written numerous articles and chapters on competition law, legal privilege, science and good regulatory practice, trade policy, customs and dumping. Ian Forrester advises companies, as well as sovereign states and other governmental authorities, industry associations and private individuals, on European Union law, especially competition law, trade law, customs, internal market rules, intellectual property and constitutional rights in a variety of sectors, including broadcasting, chemicals, information technology, pharmaceuticals, software and sport. Clients on whose behalf he has acted before national courts, national competition authorities, the European General Court and the European Court of Justice or the European Commission include the BBC, Canon, DuPont, the European Commission, GlaxoSmithKline, the Government of Gibraltar, the Liberal Democrat Party, Microsoft, Pfizer, Scottish Football Association, Toshiba, Toyota, UEFA and Union Carbide, as well as a number of private individuals. Alfonso LAMADRID DE PABLO is an Associate at Garrigues in (Brussels and Madrid), where he specialises in EU and Spanish competition law. He obtained his Law degree with an certificate of specialisation in EU Law from San Pablo-CEU University in Madrid (First class honours) and holds LL.M degrees from the College of Europe (Bruges) and Harvard Law School (Cambridge, MA, USA). His practice covers issues related to cartel proceedings, anti-competitive agreements, merger control and state aid rules in a wide array of sectors, such as sport, construction, transport, telecommunications and energy. He has published extensively on EU and Spanish competition law matters and is a co-editor of the legal blog www.chillingcompetition.com. He regularly teaches and participates in conferences, and is a coordinator of the annual course on competition law held at the IEB (Madrid).
Ildikó MIHÓK is the Director of Marketing and communication at the Hungarian Olympic Committee since March, 2011. Work experience: 1992-1995: risk assistant at the Financial Department, Argosz Insurance Co. In 1995 as a Relationship Support Officer she established a new department by Head Office’s conception. As a Consultant she was responsible for big companies’ tenders, product development at ING Bank Rt. From 2004 to 2006: Marketing and communication manager at K&H Insurance Co. Ltd. Responsible for marketing and commercial plan with budget, for the marketing and PR activities of the whole country’s network. 2007-2011: Head of Marketing and communication at Uniqa Insurance Co. Ltd. During her marketing acitvities UNIQA became: Superbrand (4 times), Business Superbrand (2 times), The Financal Institution of the year 2008 (by Figyelő TOP 200), Good CSR Award winner and the brand awareness increased with more than 20% in UNIQA’s target group. The CEO of UNIQA Hungary received the State Award from the Hungarian President for the support of the Hungarian Sport, in 2009.

Prof. Richard PARRSIH. Professor Richard Parrish is the Director of the Centre for Sports Law Research at Edge Hill University. His research explores the interface between sport and European Union law. He is author of two monographs and two edited collections and he has co-authored sports law reports for the European Commission and the European Parliament. Professor Parrish is a member of the European Commission’s Group of Independent Sports Experts (2010) and acts as an expert adviser for the European Commission’s TAIEX programme with work having been undertaken in the Ukraine, Albania, Belarus and Turkey on the approximation of European laws relevant to sport. He is also a Specialist Adviser to the House of Lords Inquiry into Grassroots Sport and the European Union (2010/11). He is Honorary Chair of the Association for the Study of Sport & the European Union, a group now numbering over 300 members. Professor Parrish is an editorial board member on the International Sports Law Journal, the International Journal of Sports Policy and Politics, Sport and the Law Journal and the European Sports Law and Policy Bulletin.
Ádám REMETEI-FILEP obtained his undergraduate degree in law in 2000 from Eötvös Loránd University of Sciences, Faculty of Law, Budapest Hungary. In 2002 he completed the King's College postgraduate distance learning course in European Competition Law and he is an LL.M. graduate from Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam, the Netherlands (2004, LL.M. in Competition Law and Economics). Ádám Remetei-Filep is a part-time PhD student at King's College London UK. Ádám Remetei-Filep has been working with the Gazdasági Versenyhivatal (Hungarian Competition Authority) since 2000 and currently he is a seconded national expert at Unit F1 (Transport, post and other services) DG Competition, European Commission.
Zsuzsanna REMETEI FILEP. She graduated from the Pázmány Péter Catholic University as a lawyer, where she also followed her Ph.D. studies. She obtained a post graduate Diploma in EC Competition Law with merit from King’s College London. During her university studies she completed a postgraduate program at Université Strasbourg, Faculté International du Droit Comparé. Since 2001 she has been working for the Hungarian State Aid Monitoring Office, currently as deputy head of department. Her responsibilities are monitoring and control of Hungarian State aid measures; representing the Hungarian aid granting authorities in State aid procedures by DG COMP. She is lecturer at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University and at the Eötvös Lóránd University in Budapest; Member of the Hungarian Competition Law Research Center. She is fluent in English, German, French.
Pim SMITS is case handler at the Netherlands Competition Authority. He assesses proposed mergers and cooperation agreements on their compatibility with Dutch and European competition law. His unit focuses amongst others on media and sports and in the past has dealt with agreements on the joint selling of broadcasting rights for football games in the Netherlands.
Ágnes SZARKA works since April 2010 at Unit C2 (Media and Sport: Antitrust) of DG Competition, European Commission, as a case handler responsible inter alia for handling antitrust complaints in the field of sport. In the preceding 4 years she had been working in the unit of DG Competition dealing with antitrust cases in the telecom sector. From 1997 till 2005 she had been practicing as a lawyer with a focus on competition law, first at the Nagy és Trócsányi Law Office (Budapest, Hungary), followed by Coudert Brothers LLP (Brussels, Belgium). She graduated from Eötvös Loránd University of Sciences, Faculty of Law (Budapest, Hungary) in 1997 and obtained an LL.M. degree in 2003 from University of London, UK (LL.M. in Business Law).
Pál SZILÁGYI is the Director of the Competition Law Research Centre in Hungary. He is lecturer at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University (Faculty of Law and Political Sciences and Faculty of Humanities) where he teaches competition law and European law. Pal obtained postgraduate diplomas from King's College London and University of Cambridge and an LLM in Competition Law at King's College London.
Pal is the director of the postgraduate diploma in competition law program at PPKE and is the author of several articles in Hungarian and English on competition law.
Tihamér TÓTH is a fulltime lecturer at the Pazmany Peter catholic University, Fculty of Law and Political Sciences and the President of the Hungarian Competition Law Research Centre. He is a counsel and member of the EU, Antitrust/Competition practice group of the Budapest office of White & Case. He joined the Firm in January 2010. His practice mainly focuses on state aid matters, European Law and Hungarian and European Competition Law.
Tihamér's extensive knowledge of competition law stems from his previous leadership positions. Prior to joining White & Case, Tihamér was President of the Competition Council of the Hungarian Competition Office from 2003-2009 and Vice President of the Hungarian Competition Authority.
He also has over 15 years of experience working in government with the European Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Tihamér is an associate professor of Competition Law at the Catholic University in Budapest and also a frequent guest lecturer of European Law at the University of Szeged. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the International League of Competition Law. He was also the chief editor of the “Competition Mirror,” a quarterly journal of the Hungarian Competition Office, between September 2005 – October 2009.
Julien ZYLBERSTEIN is UEFA’s EU legal affairs advisor. His areas of competence include sports law, EU competition law, IPR, media rights, free movement of workers, betting, and global EU policy. He also acts as UEFA’s representative to the EU. A graduate in Law from the University of Paris Panthéon – Sorbonne, Julien also studied in the University of Bologna and the University of Rome II Tor Vergata. He holds a LLM in European law from the University of Brussels.
Julien is an associate member of the Centre for economic law, University of Aix – Marseille III (Paul Cézanne). He is a guest lecturer at various universities where he teaches EU sports law and European football governance. He is the author of many academic papers in both Sports law and EU law and sits in the reading committee of the Cahiers de Droit du Sport. Between 2008 and 2010, Julien was a member of the board of French football club AS Beauvais-Oise. In 2010, he advised Evian Thonon Gaillard FC. In 2011, he advised Evreux FC 27. In addition to his mother tongue, French, Julien speaks English and Italian.
